Q: What year was the first telecast of an NFL game?
A: 1939. The Philadelphia (my hometown) Eagles defeated the Brooklyn Dodgers (yes, Dodgers!) at Brooklyn's Ebbets Field. Only 500 New Yorkers had TVs at the time.
The Raiders and Broncos play at McAfee at 7:15 tonight. So stay away from the Nimitz starting at 4:30ish this afternoon whilst the tailgaters file into the lots.
Peninsula Congresswoman Jackie Speier (I'm a fan) wants to reduce the national speed limit from 70 to 60 mph. She figures that, with the speed reduction, the average driver will save some 60 cents on a gallon of gas. That's pretty significant, I think. Might even save a few lives. People against the idea say that speed limits should be set by each state. Did you know that only about 2 percent of the highways in the US have speed limits over 55? That's according to the National Motorists Association.
What do you think of the new Fall TV prospects? Too many of my old faves are returning, so I don't have lots of time to check the new shows. One that I've been hearing lots of buzz about is "Worst Week", a comedy on CBS I might try. 'Looking forward to the premier of the fifth and final season of Boston Legal in a couple of weeks. I'll miss it when it's gone.
Thanks so much for your generosity during KOIT Kids Book Drive for The Bay Area Children's Book Project! It ended Sunday, and we'll get a book count to you as soon as we hear.
