This morning's trivia on KOIT:
Q: What was the tallest building west of the Mississippi in 1914?
A: Oakland city hall. President Taft himself came out to dedicate it that year. San Francisco's city hall was still being built after the '06 Quake, and was opened in 1917.
Feeling really bad for the employees at Mission Minis on 22nd Street in San Francisco. The cupcake bakery did a promotion with the coupon site Groupon, and the response was a little more than they bargained for. Deal was two dozen cupcakes for 11 bucks, or about half price. 3000 people took advantage of the offer. They were so overwhelmed that the staff had to shop for supplies twice a day. Some of the staff even threatened to quit. Oh great. Now I need a coconut cupcake. A couple of 'em.
Tomorrow is Bike To Work Day here in the Bay Area. The 16th annual. If you'll be biking in downtown San Francisco, check out the new dedicated Market Street bike lane. If you can't actually bike all the way to work, try biking to BART, Caltrain, the ferries, etc. If you want more info, check out The San Francisco Bicycle Coalition's website. Please drive and bike safely.
