Almond and Honey Granola
Heart Healthy and full of Protein ~ not to mention delicious!
February 16th is Almond Day! Almonds contain lots of healthy fats, fiber, protein, magnesium and vitamin E. Almonds are great for your heart too! A quick almond snack can lower blood sugar levels, reduced blood pressure and lower cholesterol levels. This yummy Almond and Honey Granola Recipe is a perfect way to start your day! Keep it around as a snack to curb those hunger pains and help you lose weight too!
3 cups old-fashioned oats
1 cup sliced almonds
1/3 cup sesame seeds
6 tablespoons vegetable oil
6 tablespoons honey
1 teaspoon ground cardamom
1/2 cup dried apricots, finely chopped
1/2 cup dried cranberries, finely chopped
Greek-style plain yogurt
Preheat oven to 350°F
Line a sheet pan with parchment paper.
Mix oats, almonds, and sesame seeds in a large bowl.
Heat oil, honey, cardamom, and 1/2 teaspoon salt in a small saucepan over low heat until heated through. Add to oat mixture and stir.
Spread evenly in sheet pan and bake, stirring once, until golden, 20 to 25 minutes.
Cool granola completely in pan (it will crisp as it cools), then stir in fruit.
Serve with yogurt and have a great day!!
