Q: How many turns are there on the crooked part of Lombard Street in San Francisco?
A: 8, although sometimes it seems like more. Can't figure out why they call it the "crookedest street in the world". It's not even the crookedest street in San Francisco. Vermont Ave at 20th takes that honor. The steepest? Filbert Street with 31.5 degree slope vs. Lombard's 21 degrees.
Maybe you heard us talking this morning about the Save the Dream Tour going on at the Cow Palace over the next five days. It's sponsored by the Neighborhood Assistance Corp. of America. Hundreds of volunteers will be on hand to help distressed homeowners avoid foreclosure, and maybe even find a BETTER mortgage! Here's a link to the NACA website, and to a Mercury News story about the event.
