The Hayward Animal Shelter is a municipal shelter providing service to the incorporated areas of Hayward. We advocate for the humane treatment of all animals; companion, domestic, and wild alike and provide services to several thousands of animals of varying backgrounds per year.

The staff  help the animals and  protect Hayward’s residents by mitigating animal threats, tackling  animal overpopulation and addressing claims of  animal cruelty. These objectives are met through a number of methods, which include apprehension of  stray, fractious and aggressive domestic animals; enforcement of local, state and federal animal laws; adoptions and sterilization programs.We proactively focus our energy on humane education, community outreach and program development while providing  a secure safe haven for shelter residents.

Offsite cat & dog adoptions held at the Luv-my-Pet Adoption Center every Saturday at the Petsmart across from Bayfair Center 15555 E 14th St., San Leandro. 12:30pm-4pm

Offsite rabbit adoption of shelter bunnies help every Saturday through the help of our rescue partners,East Bay Rabbit Rescue, at the Petsmart 6960 Amador Plaza, Dublin. Noon to 3pm
